Typical specimens of the taxa described by V. L. Komarov during his student years which are kept in the St. Petersburg State University Herbarium
Abstract
This article continues the series of publications devoted to historical collections and collections of type specimens preserved in the Herbarium of the Botany Department, St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU) (LECB). In the article there are little-known historical facts from the life of V. L. Komarov in student years, as well as information about the type specimens of taxa described by him in the early years. In the collection of LECB types (syntypes and isotypes) taxa described by Komarov on the results of his expeditions in 1892–1893, in the Zeravshan (Central Asia, Uzbekistan) are kept. The first scientific article in 1896 published 66 names of new taxa, among them — 1 genus (Trichochiton Kom.), 34 species, 2 subspecies, 14 varietes, 14 forms and one new combination. We have found in LECB 46 type specimens related to 42 taxon (24 species, 9 varietes, 8 forms and 1 subspecies), which is about 70 % of all taxa from Zeravshan described by Komarov. The other type specimens, apparently, are present only in Herbarium of Komarov Botanical Institute RAS (LE). Refs 13. Figs 3.
